About Us
Our Team
James - Our Resident Westie: Head Printer
Originally coming from West Auckland, James has been screen printing since leaving school. A master on our new MHM auto with an exacting eye for detail and a love for seeing a job completed on time. He is also fond of a little metal music filling the studio from time to time.
Brooke: Prepress & Design Manager
Long time Mount Maunganui local resident, with loads of design, print and promotional product industry knowledge. If you’re looking for innovative ways to promote your business, Brooke’s the person to talk to.
Barry: Production Manager
Barry is a bit of an institution within the world of garment decoration in New Zealand, having been involved in the industry for over 30 years, doing everything from screen printing to being a sales rep for Blue Print (now Total) back in the day.
Danny: The Apprentice
Danny is an ex Mount Maunganui College student who knocked on the door and is now an integral part of the team. Supports Barry and James, runs our digital transfer (DTF) machine, looks after inward goods and cleaning screens. Constantly creating new designs for his own streetwear clothing range or adding to his 1990 Honda Civic.
Rich: Marketing and Sales
Came to Diffuse in 2020 after some lockdown madness. Often found behind the front desk or answering your sales inquiries. Rich has lived in Mount Maunganui and Tauranga since 2003 and loves nothing more than to head to Rotorua to go biking or to the beach for a surf.
History
Diffuse was started in 2003, back when Nokia and Blackberry phones were all the rage, the iPhone hadn’t been invented and social media didn’t exist. Since then, Diffuse has grown from a simple screen printing business to the go to business for screen printing, embroidery, digital transfers (DTF – Direct to Film), sublimation and promotional products in the Bay of Plenty and Waikato.
Since 2020 a huge investment has been made in both equipment and staff to ensure that Diffuse has the latest digital and automated technology for garment decoration. We have the capacity to turn jobs around quickly and professionally whether we are decorating 1 garment or 5000 garments.
Social Responsibility and Sustainability
Historically the apparel industry had been notorious for its lack of concern regarding sustainability, with fast fashion, child labour and nasty chemicals the norm.
For the leadership team at Diffuse, social responsibility and sustainability is something that is a real consideration in all that we do. We are constantly looking at ways we can lessen our impact on the planet and improve our contribution to a healthy community. Some of the improvements we have made since 2020 are:
Creating a safer working environment through:
- Investment in modern equipment, which is safer and easier to operate
- Properly ventilating our work areas
- Choosing more environmentally friendly and worker friendly chemicals and inks
Minimising our waste by:
- Choosing suppliers that minimise their waste
- Recycling soft plastics
- Filtering our wastewater
- Re-using packaging to ship our finished products
- Investing in modern equipment that is more energy efficient
Social contributions:
We support a number of local groups and charities that are improving our community which include:
- Wish for Fish – Wish4Fish | Charitable Trust
- Live for More – Live for More – Welcome. We believe there is more to life than drugs, alcohol and crime
Providing a safe and supportive work environment for all our employees.
